We live in a digital age; the time when you needed to know why there is no place like 127.0.0.1 (geek humor) to run a server out of your home is no more. In the modern home we have multiple PC’s each with increasingly large amounts of digital photos, music, video, and documents. And that digital content is ever more precious and for most people it is going with being backed up. If your PC got hit with a virus, or your Hard Drive crashed - with the Windows Home Server you can restore your PC to a previously backed-up version and be in PC Utopia once again. In addition to the automatic backups you get a media server, document management, remote access and a growing number of server add-ins. My wife uses a MAC and takes lots of digital pictures, it used to be a pain to get a few of the original shots she had taken, now we both store all our pictures on the server where they are safe and secure and easy to get at. Also we can easily create a photo-album to share those perfect shots with friends and family over the internet. And one of the best features I like about the Windows Home Server is it can easily be upgraded for more capacity. What you get for the money is well worth this purchase.

Re: Product Review: Windows Home Server
I'm posting this as a warning to the next release of the WHS (Windows Home Server) right now code named 'Vail'. The best part and what made this a product I recommend was a component called 'Drive Extender'. The new version of WHS will be leaving that behind. The result is like a Peanut-Butter Cup with the peanut-butter taken out. Sure it's a chocolate bar, but that is not what I wanted; and from all the negative blog post now on the subject I would say that no-one else does either. So for now, until I can see what the new version is like for myself the current version of WHS is great, but the new one - stay tuned...
